It’s always been tradition that the guys in my family go up north to my Dads property for deer camp. Men only. I’ve always respected that tradition but when my husband and I bought our own property, I made sure to deem it girls only for opener! I have no female hunter friends so my neighbor decided to sit with me to see what it’s all about. Opening day was slooow. But Sunday morning was beautiful. My neighbor grabbed my binos and goes “I see a boy coming!”. Made me chuckle she said boy and not BUCK. Sure enough it was this 8pt! Seeing the pure excitement my neighbor had after I shot and dropped him made this experience even better! She helped me drag it, load it and gut it. You can also see I put grass in his mouth. This was a tradition I learned in Italy, you give the animal their last meal to honor them. Awesome hunt!!
