Opening morning. I had taken another 8 point and was enjoying some coffee when I observed this buck sniffing my downed one. I noticed that the buck had a good set of antlers but appeared to be thin and and had a heavy limp. I got on him quickly as he limped towards the thick brush. 450 hit him right behind the shoulder and he ran 25 yards. While walking up, I noticed that he had a missing back left leg and that he had two infected wounds that appeared to be from broadheads – one about and inch and a half below his heart, and one a few inches low of his liver. There had to be some sleep lost because of this guy. He was a warrior and I am super proud to have him.
