I had known about this buck for a while, and had been keeping tabs on him with the help of some trail cameras before he disappeared in mid October. Luckily, I was able to see him on the 14th of October right before he disappeared with a 10pt that I ended up shooting the next morning.

Fast forward to Halloween and he was back on the property, and not only was he back, but he had day lighted on the west end 3 consecutive days in row! Unfortunately, he stopped showing up on the 3rd and 4th of November to capitalize on his pattern. The morning of November 5th was very foggy and kept a lot of deer bedded down throughout the morning. I arrived early to the farm with my brother with the thought that deer movement would be earlier than normal that evening.

Since I had already taken a buck earlier in the season I let my brother have his choice of stand preference. From there I decided that he was probably hanging around a doe bedding area and may have either found a doe, or moved onto the next doe bedding area. I remembered that I saw him in October on the east side of the property, and I decided to hunt there as it was near a suspected doe bedding area.

At 5:11pm he appeared to my left side but behind me coming from the suspected bedding area. Luckily this provided an off wind from his walking trail and I was able to hit my bleat can twice to grab his attention. He came in at 33 yards looking at my doe decoy and I let my bolt fly as it made its mark sending him crashing only 40 yards into the standing corn. I was able to keep my composure enough to not only make a perfect shot, but was also able to film the whole thing for my YouTube show Droptine Ridge.
