The Kids were sleeping in, so I snuck out to the backyard stand just before 7. It was the only morning I was able to get out after battling the flu all month. I was already shaking my head at the late start when I had to cough a few times. I figured I might as well blow a couple grunts to confuse anything close enough I may have startled. At first light he came in slowly and even scoping him I couldn’t quite make out his exact size. One shot at 75yds and he bolted straight towards me, under the stand and right up my trail towards home. I heard him crash down in a little thicket by the goats. Gave my prayer of thanks, climbed down, woke up the Kids and all of us went to “track” him. Sharing that morning and having the kids be a part was the best.
