opening day in the swamps of Oakland county, I got rained on all day but it was well worth it. just before last light this beautiful pie bald 8 point stepped out of the cattails at 20 yards he hid behind a tree with his nose in the air something was off but he wasn’t sure what was up. all of a sudden he changes his direction stepped out from behind the tree and stood 10 yards from my stand in my shooting lane. I raised my crossbow up put my scope on him and couldn’t see anything do to my lenses being fogged up. my heart started to race in a panic my brain and instinct took over I calmed myself controlled my breathing aimed again put the center of my scope on the center of the blurry brown buck gently squeezed my trigger and watched as he took 10 steps and crashed behind me in the thickets just out of sight. i gave him 30 minutes climbed out of my tree stepped into the thickets and there he was with a perfect shot through the heart.
