I got out early on November 17th in a tree stand. Right before daybreak, I heard grunting about 30 yards to my right on the edge of the woods. As soon as it was shooting time, I saw an nice buck standing there looking at some doe’s. He started moving my way and when he was about 20 yards away, I let him have it. Right in the bread basket! He went running down a hill about 100 yards away and jumped into the woods. About 2 minutes later, at about exactly the same spot he went into the woods, there was another buck standing there. I wasn’t sure if it was the same one because the rack looked a little taller. Since I had a combo license, I racked another round and let it rip! I heard running and crashing in the woods.

I waited about an hour before tracking. Found some good blood about 20 yards away and was able to find the first buck about a foot in the woods. I went into the woods about 35 yards and there was a second buck down. One of the craziest hunts I’ve ever had! Two 8 points dropped within a couple minutes. I couldn’t be more grateful for this hunting season. This was a hunt I will never forget!
