I’ve been watching this deer for over 2 years now. When I first had him on camera he was a small 6 point. He busted up his leg midway through that season so we started calling him “gimpy.” I never had the chance at him that season as I didn’t want to see him suffer. Luckily he made it though that winter and showed up the next year as an 8 point with a little bit of a goofy rack. He never came close enough through the entire 2022 season and I thought for sure that winter would claim him. Well gimpy hung around all winter, and when I first saw him in velvet I realized he’d grown a kicker off his left side. He stuck around all early season but as soon as the rut kicked off he disappeared. He showed up on camera the night before and sure enough stepped out into the field around the same time Sunday night where I was lucky enough to harvest him.
