Went out for my first year of turkey hunting with a friend that had many years of experience. We were sitting on one end of a valley. At day break had a bunch of gobbles but they went quiet a half hour later. Around 845 we moved to the other end of the valley closer to the swamp. A little after 9 they started responding to calls again. What seemed like 39 seconds later my buddy told me to get ready because they were close. When they entered the field they split.two went downhill and one went behind us on the uphill side. I swung around to the one uphill and my buddy said he was a good bird. He came into a small opening on the ridge and I shot dropping him right there. Awesome experience with my new turkey hunting buddy for life. He ended up being a 2.5-3.5 year old bird with a 10 inch beard and 1 and 1/4 inch spurs. I’m hooked for life now
