I’ve spent the majority of my late season playing a chess match with this deer. 3 times during archery season, he was within the outer reaches of bow range but stayed inside of tight cover. Set a new stand for rifle on the other side of the cover he was using. The first two days of rifle he continued to slip just pass me working does in the heavy cover where there was no shot. Finally, my 6th and last encounter with this deer was right in the thick cover he had used to his advantage. I carried in a chair and set up just off the trail he was using. At 830, he came by offering me a perfect broadside shot at 30 yards and the rest is history. Very blessed to ha e the opportunity to harvest such a great animal!
