This deer season has been one for the books! The first evening of the season I rushed home from work got my hunting stuff on and took off to one of my private spots that’s only 10 acres, I bumped deer heading back and almost setup halfway back but decided I had to push to the back as I planned to intercept deer going from bedding to food was sure I found a good buck trail the week before and I had a perfect just off wind setup for it, i was super anxious and new something was gonna happen, just like that out of nowhere I caught movement coming in fast and I seen I nice rack, quickly grabbed the bow found the hole ahead of him drew and meh as loud as possible to be sure he stopped where I wanted him to and he did, I settled my pin as soon as he stopped let it fly perfect heart shot he bulldozed 30 yards or so and that was when I knew I just killed the biggest buck of my life and the roller coaster of emotions started racing threw my body.

So taking that deer on the first day of bow season really took the pressure off and I was very humbled to say the least. But after a few weeks and the rut kicking off I was ready to get on another good buck. I had many close calls on my small private spots but something always prevented me from being successful. So now gun season is here and I’ve not been seeing any good bucks on my private spots so I venture to my public spot where I hung a set during bow season that I figured maybe there was a good buck in the area. I bumped a big doe just before getting to my stand, didn’t see anything for about an hour then I just happened to see a brown patch in the thick I scoped it realized it was in fact a deer but it’s head was down, once he raised his head I knew he was the one I wanted I settled on him and the 350 barked laid em down! When I walked up on him I was beyond impressed with his big body and awesome rack! Beautiful public land bladed 8 pointer taken on 11/21/2024
