After 6 years of struggle on public land, at 10:40AM everything finally came together and I harvested my FIRST turkey! I worked this bird and another massive tom for 3 hours when they suddenly went quiet on me. A local hound dog started baying which forced a shock gobble out of the toms that had meandered their way toward me in their silence while trailing 4 hens. I started up a ruckus of yelps, cuts, and purrs and the lead tom moved right in to 28 yards into a perfect shooting lane. Ka-boom! My Savage Stevens Model 555 got the job done. I am so incredibly thankful for the opportunity to tag out. What a hunt!
