Everything came together tonight. Touch of a long post here but it means so much to me. I entered the hunting game super late compared to most. I remember drawing pictures of deer when I was a kid and dreaming of hunting deer, but the opportunity wasn’t there for me growing up. My wife and I bought a house with some land, which has always been my dream, my wife was super supportive. This is my 3rd deer season here. I have seen plenty of smaller deer on my land that I happily passed on hoping to one day harvest something special. I took a doe the past two years watching some small bucks walk. It was a little tough watching these deer wander off and hearing a close by shot and never seeing “Elliot” again, a small buck I hope would make it till next season. That’s when I really decided to get serious. I wanted a food plot and I wanted to try out bow season. My father in law and helped me all summer long preparing for an August plant. Lots of hard work trimming and cutting for a great food plot. It turned out better than we could ever hoped for and instantly made a positive impact. I wanted to start rifle season out with a bang. That quickly changed when my wife surprised me with an expensive shopping trip for a crossbow. She had seen all the hard work and countless hours that I had put into the woods. I remember having a nervous glow of a smile while standing in line purchasing my new bow. Everything had changed. My hunting season was tripled in time. I had a few shooters on camera and was so excited for hunting season. Little did I know hunting early October is tough when it’s 75 and the skeeters are out in full force. Eventually a cold front hit. It all happened so fast. A few blinks later I am fumbling for my phone to call my hunting buddy with the best news. All the blood and sweat paid off and was worth it. It’s so much more than hunting. I finally know the feeling. I am so proud of my self, and all people that helped me get to this point. I’ll never forget my first buck! It’s never too late to chase dreams!
