I had sat all morning and only seen a button buck. About 9:30 I was about to climb down but decided to do a couple grunts and a snort wheeze. Within seconds a small 8 came from the cattails about 60 yards in front of me. He walked up to a scrape that’s just under my stand when I heard something crashing through the pines. This buck walked out at 14 yards posturing and I took the shot. I hit him perfectly and he only went about 20 yards farther. I wasn’t planning to even kill a buck this year after taking my 184”2/8 buck last season. This is my second biggest buck to date and the largest ever taken off our family property. We had no pictures of this buck.

Gross score 140” 4/8.
