Friday morning, I left my stand early because my son texted me that he forgot his boots in my car. When I got to the car, I looked and didn’t find his boots. At that point I decided to drive around a piece of private property owned by my family. When I drove up to the woods by the orchard, I saw fresh tracks and decided to follow them. After walking a short distance, I saw the buck standing about 150 yards away in the orchard. I was able to take a shot freehanded and hit him in both lungs. He ran approximately 250-300 yards before he dropped. This was the biggest buck ever harvested on this piece of family property in the 50+ years we have owned it. This was definitely a buck of a lifetime!
