Played cat and mouse with him for a week. While hunting with my 6 year old son he showed up twice within a half hour of us leaving. The joys or should I say agony of having cell cameras. Friday the 25th he showed three times during shooting hours. I decided to hunt all day Saturday. Early around 7:30 I three does run off acting like a Buck was a near by but nothing showed. A little after 8:00 I had a 4 does out and I heard a couple of grunts. A little spike came out and ran them off, while that spike was out 3 more does came out on my other lane. Just before 8:30 they ran off and he finally stepped out at 85 yards. He was quartering towards me so I placed the shot on his front shoulder. I tracked him for a while with not a ton of blood, when he got to thicker cover i decided to back out and call for help. My son came out with my dad and brother and we started from last blood. We tracked him another 10 feet and he was laying tangled up in some trees. It’s amazing the strength of these animals. He ended up running 90 yards after a heart shot. Bonus was getting it all done before noon and being able to watch Michigan whoop on the buckeyes!
