Hunter hunting along a marsh

Information

  • Date Taken: 11/15/2014
  • Time Of Day: Morning
  • Method: Shotgun
  • County: Jackson County
  • Property: Private
  • Dressed Weight: Around 7:30 a.m. He showed up but did not present me with a killing shot. Then turned and walked away. My heart sank as I said to myself "there goes the biggest buck I have ever seen." As we all do I kept an eye on the area he headed to just in case he came back (although knowing in the back of my mind it would never happen). About an hour later my heart started beating hard because to my surprise here he comes walking back to me! Where I was hunting was pretty thick so when he finally turned broadside and provided me with an opportunity I was ready. He was walking so I did what I know to do to get them to stop and went "meh", to my dismay it didn't stop him or even phase him for that matter. I looked ahead of where he was walking and I was only going to have one more opportunity before the brush and trees would cover him and provide no shot for me. So again but even louder I went "meh" he stopped and I pulled! With one shot fired he took off and at first I thought I'd missed but then 20 yards away he went down! I was ecstatic! The way we found him I had never seen before...his antlers we're wrapped around of a tree that he faced head on. We engraved the tree with his rack as we pried him off. This to me is a buck of a lifetime!
