I didn’t get to hunt opening morning due to work so I went up after work and hot to hunt from 2:30pm to dark and saw 4 that night. 3 doe’s and a small spike chasing the doe’s. The second morning I saw 2 deer running through the woods to dark and far to see what they were. Then around 8:30am I had a basket 6 walk behind me and I couldn’t get a shot through the thick brush. I didn’t see anything for the night hunt. Went out Saturday all day and never seen a deer. No deer on the camera either… My uncle shot a 4pt Saturday morning and said he had been seeing a lot of deer. He told me I could hunt his spot Sunday morning if I wanted so I figured I would. He told me all the deer were coming from the right out of his front window. And he only kept the front window and the left window open because it was to thick to see out of any of the other two windows. (Pop up ground blind) he said most of the deer he seen in the morning would come in around 8-8:30am. So Sunday morning I hunted and 8 came and went, 8:30 came and went 9 came and went so on… So I ate my breakfast took a nap lol. I was all leaned back in the chair with the .270 leaned up against the corner of the tent when I heard some crunching coming from the left of me. I thought to myself must be a squirrel or my imagination… I didn’t pay any attention to it. I kept hearing the crunching and then thought, “ok that really sounds like something walking.” So I look to my left and standing about 30 yards from me is a rack… All I could think is, “oh my God, oh my God, oh my God…” So I went to reach for my gun and the buck saw the motion. So then we were in a staring match for what seemed like an hour. I was breathing so hard my damn tent was filling up with steam from my breath and I knew the deer could see it. So I tried to breath out of my nose and started blowing snot out of my nose so that stopped as quick as it started. He knew something was up but didn’t know what. He then turned and started walking. He wasn’t alarmed just confused I think lol. As he got behind some trees I picked up the rifle and got on the opening he was going to be walking through. As I was doing this my chair made some noise and the buck stopped… He heard the noise but didn’t know where it came from. This got him walking a little faster. He finally got to the opening and I took my shot! He mule kicked and took off! As I watched him I could tell he was hit hard. He left my sight so I looked at my phone to see the time. 10:17am! He went about 40 yards and there he laid! My biggest buck to date!
