I was on a new property this year, I don’t have no trail cams out and the property hadn’t been hunted in a few yrs. The morning I got this buck I took my step sons grandpa hunting to get him a deer, at first light he shot him a doe, which made me happier than ever, a little while later I was able to harvest this nice 8pt.. it was the only deer I had seen but they were definitely on there feet moving this day. I passed up a few smaller bucks on opening day and when I seen this guy I grunted to get em to stop and the ol 450 dropped him in his tracks.. on opening day I had the opportunity to hunt with the landowners 82 yr old uncle, and shortly after shooting light this gentleman was able to harvest a really nice 7 pt, he hadn’t been able to hunt in 4 yrs due to taking care his sick wife. After her passing he said he wanted to get back out in the woods and enjoy hunting, this man was dressed head to toe in orange had a 12 gauge pump shotgun and sat on a stump and harvested that deer. That man taught me you don’t need high tech fancy gadgets or fancy blinds to harvest a nice buck, and that persistence is key when u get older. Never give up something u have a passion for, I was honored to gut his deer and drag it out for him all while he’s offering to pay me. I tell him sir you don’t owe me a dime it makes me super happy seeing you harvest an animal at 82 yrs young still. The picture of his 7pt is posted along with my 8pt taken from same property, within the same area of one another. Then last night I was fortunate enough to tag out for the season on a nice big doe, now we have the meat we need and now time to prep for hardwater season. Good luck fellow hunters the rest the season, fill them freezers
