I had an opportunity to take a young lady from Italy out to educate her on our way of life. My 9 yr. old son came along as well. If you know me personally, my passion is not only for the game I pursue, but to educate others into our way of life.
We threw together a quick set up on a runway ridge line. Just hoping to get her close enough to view deer and wildlife. There honestly wasn’t a strong intention on harvesting a deer. So as she was in awe of squirrels, a doe came through to 40 yards. We watched her tend to a licking branch for several minutes. It was then I saw a hind quarter of another deer behind a massive oak at 70 yards. Her words to me I will never forget…”He has an antler”. Ha I aimed my scope in his direction to get a glimpse of his rack when he became visible to me. The moment he came into view on the ridge he was already looking at me in the scope, still at 70 yards. His instincts were on point. The rest is a memory, one I won’t forget. So very thankful for this way of life, and the people I got to share this deer with.
