Where to start…. it was pouring rain all day today in the Yoop. I got pictures of my #1 buck early this morning, so I knew I had to get into the stand today. I climbed in the tree around 130pm, and the weather finally broke around 3pm. At 4 p.m., a 6pt and 8pt made their way past my stand, and I decided to fill one of my tags on the 8pt. Perfect shot, he ran about 60 yards and expired. Being early, I was gonna let him lay until dark. About 10 min later, I watched a nice buck walk up to the dead buck and circle him a couple of times. He worked his way away from me, so I hit the grunt tube and turned I’m around. He came on a string to 60 yards, but there was no shot available. At that point, he didn’t see other deer and knew something was up. He circled back to where he came from and was gone forever. I was kicking myself wondering if should have forced a frontal shot…. 40 min later, a doe worked her way into 20 yards. I looked behind her, and there he was. My target buck. Working his way into 55 yards. Right then, the doe decided to bust out of there. I knew this was my only chance…. as he turned to chase her, I let the arrow fly at 55 yards, hitting him absolutely perfect. I watched him go down after 50 yards. What a beautiful UP Buck. Definitely a hunt I won’t ever forget!!!! My personal best for sure. Tagged Out 2023!!!!
