The first weekend of November is our annual hunting trip up north to grandpas place. We put in the work to find the sign on public and hunt hard for success like this. I shot my buck in the morning as he was on a B-line to the scrape I was over. Got drawn back early as he was coming in because I knew he’d bust me if I didn’t. He got to 15 yards and I I took a frontal shot and buried the arrow all the way through the vitals and to the stomach. I found my whole arrow inside him. He piled up 40 yards from my setup. My brother was nestled up to a swamp and smoked this big mature one at 17 yds in front of him! His buddy wasn’t too far and shot the big doe the same night. Grandpa shot his deer on 11/1. At 73 years old he’s still getting the bow drawn back! All compound bow kills in the big woods public land. I hope this tradition lives forever.
