First deer ever after 13 years of hunting. I decided to try my local hunting property this year. Had a few does and a few bucks(including this one) on my trail cam. He came in about 530pm and I took my shot(not a very good one) with my .350 legend. Hit him high on the shoulder which made that entire leg unusable. He ran about 30 yards and dropped. Waited 30ish minutes and approached him. He got up and ran away on his other 3 good legs another 40ish yards before stopping again. Figured he would wait there. Boy was I wrong. He definitely didn’t wait there and continued to get away. With it being my first deer ever I needed to chase him down. Eventually caught back up to him and took him down with a second better placed shot. Called my girlfriend for help dragging him out. We definitely didnt realize how far he went and we realized we needed help after dragging him about 150 yards. Called a few family members to help us drag him out of the woods. Long story short we finally got him loaded and in the truck around 11pm.
