Laylas first youth hunt (9 years old)- 6pt – 35 yard shot with a crossbow (15 more than she’s been practicing)
Layla “At 6:30 AM, we went to our blind
and had our “survival snacks” and we saw a buck but could not get a good aim at it. Me, my Papa Rick, my Papa Rob, my dad Dillon, and my little brother Huk were all in one blind. Later, we went back out and we saw the same buck rubbing his antlers on the trees. After a while he came back into my sight with a doe, but the doe was able to smell us so my dad started to grunt. My dad said to find the armpit so I found it and went up a little higher and shot it right in the heart. We tracked the deer together and I found my first buck. I shot it with a Ten point crossbow.”
We decided to journal tonight to frame it next to her first buck. 🦌
