Didn’t make it out opening morning as I went on a rescheduled field trip with my son. Hit the woods at a quarter after 2. Was using my climber getting up my tree at 2:35 had 2 does come walking past me in way up tree. Got up and settled in in next 5 minutes. I dosed off and heard a brach snap. Looked up and he was walking straight at me 30 yards away. Not wanting to spook him. I carefully picked up my H&R 20 Guage single shot loaded with a 2 3/4 Remmington Accu Tip. Got him in the scope counted point decided he was a good one. By that time he was less then 15 yards still straight at me. He turned to the left and picked his head up. I dropped the hammer. Surprised he didn’t hit the ground just bounded off along the swamp with his tail down twitching. Until he was out of site. Took out my phone 3:00 pm on the dot. Texted my family and buddies told them I drilled one. Sat until dark took stand and stuff up to truck and got a flash light an my daughter. Went back to where I shot him. No blood no hair nothing. There’s no was I missed so just followed his tracks down edge of swamp up into woods he made a big half circle. With out light I was just scanning back and forth. When I seen a white belly. Off in the brush it was him. No blood no hair no nothing. 350 yards. I hit him high took out one lung and liver. Only blood was there he layer bullet didn’t pass threw. Was abled to recover slug when gutting him.
