The 11 point with an 18 1/2″ inner spread buck I shot on opening day was chasing a doe through the woods late morning, I was in a stand about 15 yards from a crick running through my woods on my property, the doe continued crossing the river, but the buck stopped and stood in the crick about 70 yards down for about 30 second and I didn’t have a shot. He either smelled or heard me because he knew something wasn’t right, turned around and went back the way he came and stood on the bank for about 15 seconds and was behind a tree that blocked any kill shot and started hooving at the ground so I knew he was about to take off. He started moving and as soon as he did I dropped him with a double lung shot at about 75-80 yards. My grandpa and father have been hunting our property in Scotts, Michigan for over 60 years and this was the largest buck to have been taken yet out of many.
