After missing a doe the previous morning i got out to my stand around 6:15 am to get settled in and let everything quiet down. About 7:45 i look over my right shoulder and saw him walking the bench of the ridge 20 yards away. I got turned to the right and drew back and thats when i saw the drop tines. He kept slowly waking until he got to the edge of my walking trail, turned and looked dead at me. We locked eyes for what felt like forever until he turned and kept walking right into my trail giving me a perfect shooting lane. I shot him mid step in the middle of my trail with a perfect broadside shot that got both lungs and clipped the top of his heart. He ran 15 yards. stopped and i could see the blood coming out of him. He took 5 more steps and fell over, thats when the adrenaline began. It still feels like a dream. The neighbors had trail cam pics of him and i guess his son was pretty bummed somebody got “Double Drop”. Shot with my 94 model Matthew’s solo cam ultra light tipped and muzzy mx4 broadhead.
