Its been just over a decade, about 11 years since the last time I even deer hunted let alone kill a buck. On a whim in late augest I said you know what… im doing it! Im getting back into deer hunting! I scrambled to peice together camo, stands, gear, the whole nine. My dad gave me a crossbow I practiced with it, I scouted, I walked and walked state land until I found a spot I thought looked great and I hung a camera. Over the whole month of September the camera was blowing up and so was my anticipation for october 1st. The day came and I sat morning and evening without seeing a single deer. The morning of october 2nd came and I walked out to my stand in the rain with hopes it would stop. That hour before daylight that i sat there I got more and more soaked and I started to get so cold i was shaking. It started to get light and at 7:30 he came in behind a smaller buck who i saw first. Then I noticed the bigger buck behind him so I just was paitent and waited for my opportunity and he gave me a broadside walking at 12 yards. He went 20 and fell over dead. Everything came together and I could not be happier! Start to finish i forgot how fun this thrill of the chase is and I think now ill never not miss another deer season!
