I don’t remember a time in my life when I wasn’t going to the woods with dad. I’ve been in the stand and in the blind more times than I can count. My dad follows bucks on our trail cams and we watch their patterns and habits. He had one nice 8 point showing up at both of our spots. This week I set out with my dad, and he looked to me and said “One of us is going to get that 8 point.” Little did he know that night he’d be the lucky winner, harvesting an old mature 8 point whitetail. Then, two days later I’d get my own. His statement was even more accurate that he could have imagined. We both tagged great 8 points!! It couldn’t have been better.
I’m getting married in a few months, and it was such a precious treasure for me to still be able to have that moment as my dads little girl. I may move away, I may not be able to get outdoors as often as I would like, but I will always be my dads little hunting buddy. What my dad has taught me about hunting and the outdoors I will never forget. The memories we have made and the ones yet to come I hold dearest to my heart.
