I had spent the day chasing grouse a couple hours north, and decided to sit for the first time this season when I arrived home.
About 6:30 I heard a buck grunting and closing the gap from the north. When I saw him, he was coming straight to my tree. I assumed he would keep moving south, end up down wind, and it would be a wrap. But, he stopped short, presented a shot, and that’s it. He went about 25yds and tipped over in sight. Surreal, for sure.
