On October 15th, I was hunting my pop up blind wind blowing to my right. I passed up last years doe, saw a 8 point at 100 yards. I grunted at him and he took off. Then at 7:08 I heard a deer walking next to me, I got ready and this brute popped out at 18 yards. He smelled my licking branch I pulled up, and shot him. I was shaking so bad and could barley talk on the phone. We couldn’t find blood but I knew where he went. I ended up calling in a dog, which then found blood before they arrived. I backed out and started looking for him at 10pm. Dog was doing great, we didn’t trust her and gave up for the night. I went back out and searched for over an 1 hour, I went to the corn and 100 yards in if ound blood and 200 yards further there he lay. Apparently when I shot he took a step forward and I hit him liver and knicked the gut. Also, we should have listened to the dog, she was about 50 yards from my buck.
