After a long hard month of baiting it was finally opening day. Took the morning off and headed out that evening. Got in stand around 4pm. Very quiet night and at 7:45 I heard a stick break behind me. I slowly turn and look and there he was standing at about 5 yards. He continued walking right to my ladder, sniffing it and looking up at me. He then stepped out in front and at just 7 yards I took my shot. He went about 40 yards. This was my first ever bear hunt and the first bear I have ever seen in the woods. Couldn’t be happier. I owe allot of this bear to my grandpa as he baited for me on the days I wasn’t able to. He put in allot of work to help me get my first bear.
