Me and my buddy found a scrape on Saturday that some does were visiting in super thick pinewoods. Setup a makeshift ground blind and some shooting lanes, one being almost directly to the scrape.
Hunted it yesterday, and saw him trot across my narrow shooting lane near the scrape. Tried rattling him back into an opening, and while he did stop to think about coming into the open for a few seconds, he eventually left.
Hunted it this morning. At almost the exact same time I saw him yesterday, I heard a doe wheeze and take off. Started to get frustrated because I thought I was sitting still, wasn’t making any noise, scent should have been fine, etc, wasn’t sure how she saw me. Turns out, she was blowing at the same buck I saw yesterday. He came charging after her 2 minutes after she wheezed.
I didn’t have time to even think. I got the bow up really quick and let out a “mep”. He stopped just in time at my shooting lane and I smoked him at 20 yards.
