My first buck.
It was taken on a small piece of property I have owned for 4 1/2 years.
I had been having a rough 2020 season, but something got me onto my land extra early Monday morning. With the wind still gusting from the day before, I was seeing little dinks and a few doe casually nibbling on random greens through the trees.
At 9:30am, I heard a crash and a rustle behind me and to my right. I looked back and saw a doe pop out of some tall phragmites followed by a big body, I got the bins out and saw he was my 3rd target shooter. Ranged him and waited for him to get clear of some trees. I usually shoot lefty with a rifle, but from my position, I had to switch and shoot righty.
After I shot, I looked up, saw him stumble and drop 5 yards from where I shot him – I found out later that I severed the top of his heart and he was dead before he hit the ground.
Could not be happier.
