Sunday night (10/6/2019) last minute I was able to go out hunting, thanks to my bestie Kirstin Dailey, and my hubby actually let me hunt the food plot for the first time. He put me in the front stand and he took the stand 100yards to the West. He was taking that stand with the hopes of the big one walking out in front of him. Was in the tree for almost 2 hours, never seen a deer fearing I was going to get skunked again like the last 2 out of 3 hunts we’ve been on this week. I started to scan the food plot, then the woods and turned back to the food plot and Bam this stud was standing at 43 yards out of no where. After watching him for 15 minutes and losing him behind a tree branch, fearing he went into the woods I seen him again. He was walking the field edge coming right toward my opening. He stopped almost broadside 20 yards in front of me. I took my time, slowed my breathing, patiently waited for the perfect shot. I let my arrow fly *WHACK* it was a pass through. Unfortunately, it was a little farther back and he wasn’t as broadside as I thought he was..GUT SHOT..as hard as it was I had to let him lay over night and call in The Amazing Blaze this morning to come to my rescue. Took her a bit to get on the trail as the yoties were all over my bucks trail last night. He ended up going almost 500 yards from where I shot him, almost 220 yards into the deep “over the knee” NASTY swamp. With the help of Curt Simon and The Amazing Blaze we finally found him and Curt was a life saver and drug him most of the way out, with little assistance from me. And finally at the end Shea Nielsen came to finish dragging him out, and talk me through my first gut job! I am upset my shot wasn’t as good as it should of been, but so glad to have the help and support of all the ones who helped, in so many ways even just talking to me! I can’t wait to go out and do it again!!
