I hunt with friends and family at “Peters Hunting Camp”. I was able to arrive much earlier than expected, and was the first guy there. It had been drizzling all day on and off and I got in the elevated blind about 3:45. I thought I had messed up big-time because I had spoked a doe on my way in, and I admit I got into the blind a little late.
At 4:30 sun had just come out and somehow this buck managed to get within 30 yards of my blind without me noticing. But there he was, and I saw that I already had leveled the crossbow at him and as I was going to pull the trigger he looked behind him. He then ran about 100 yards before I saw him drop. I waited 45 minutes before I found him. I’m still in disbelief that I was able to harvest this fine buck. We had not seen him previously. I want to thank all of my comrades at deer camp without them this would not be possible .
