Well this is a new year for us on a new property as my father had just purchased in the winter of 2019 and we weren’t sure what to expect with the new land. I’ve seen this buck throughout the pre-season on my cams and after thoroughly searching knew it was legal to shoot if provided the opportunity. Well this past Friday I took my wife out and we had the chance to double down on this buck and another, we unfortunately missed our chance and decided to go out on this past Sunday to try again. My wife’s buck came out and as we were lining her up for a shot this collared 8 came out and my wife told me to take my shot instead. Unfortunately I missed hitting my ground blind unknowingly, however the 8 came back and I got my chance. As we heard him crash off in the distance the buck my wife originally was aiming for came back and she took her chance and shot him. We were able to find hers immediately and then we were off to find mine. Buried himself in the thickest of Briar bush patches about 200 yards from where we were hunting, everything about this night made this a hunt to remember.
