I was having a bad morning locating a decent tree and once climbing the tree the invisible limbs started to show themselves! By the time I got to a height I thought would work with the tree canapé, I thought of coming back down and heading to the house after all the noise I had made. Once settled I started to glass my surroundings. As I peered out of the edge of the woods to my surprise there stood a decent buck working a licking branch. I immediately grabbed my range finder but was having trouble finding a range due to it being over cast, limbs blowing, and it just knocking on 8am. I finally decided that 40 yards should do the trick. I let the bolt fly and the rest is history! It goes to show you that you never know how a deer will respond even with all the noise I felt I made that morning just before the harvest. You can’t harvest a deer from the couch!
