Buck
THE 2018 season had been a quite sorry one ( no deer sightings ) until NOV.5 . That morning it all broke loose ! At 7:10 am the 8 point snuck in sniffing the doe in heat I had put out . I shot him at about 18/20 yards …re-cocked my crossbow and sat down to settle a little . Almost immediately after the 8 pt. ran up a ridge …Another big buck came out at the far edge of a bean field about 200 yards off and headed my way ! He slowly walked toward me and cut in towards my ladder ..unfortunately he turned at about 40/45 yards and walked back away from my stand .I called my son Dennis to tell him about the action going on about 8:20 am. While I was talking to him a 3 point buck walked in from in front and above me …I hung up the phone ,waited for him to clear some branches and shot him at about 14 yards ! WOW …what a way for things to perk up !! I still have a doe-permit but have called it quits for this season ! First time I was able to hunt the tulip stand .
