I swore I wasn’t going firearm hunting, I was set on using my bow this season but time slipped and I had no free time to sit. I was feeling very depressed as I first started hunting last year and the itch never left! I was so excited to get out again and finally I was offered by a friend to sit for my only free day of the month, Thanksgiving day, using, you guessed it, a firearm. I’ve never rifle hunted but my friend swore up and down I’d fall in love with the .350 lengend and did I ever! All day no sign of deer. We kicked up am deer and pm deer walking to the blind. I felt so discouraged. Until last light, the two yearlings we spooked came back out. I didn’t want to take one, being so young, but time was running out, so I put the cross hairs on the bigger of the two then I hear “buck, there is a good buck, good buck” and sure enough this nice 6pt came out and as I fumbled to get the rifle on him, he sensed something was up, I was busted and he started for the wood line again, until my awesome friend Rob bleated to him and he stopped. It was now or never and I took a deep breath, squeezed the trigger and BOOM all I saw was the explosion of fire from the round leaving the barrel. Shot at approx 45 yrd . Heart shot, piled up about 20 yrds into the woods. For being my second year, second deer, both bucks, both heart shots I am extremely proud and grateful to have had the opportunity to fill a tag with only only day to sit! Thanksgiving was truly thankful
