My hunting partners saw this deer trailing a doe a couple times which gave me a general idea of the area he was moving through. I had an old stand in the area which I have not used for several years but it was compromised, so I sat on the ground nestled into some fallen tree stumps upwind of where I thought he might be. A loud crack of two bucks engaging rang out. Five minutes later the doe appeared. Low and behold he came in behind her and that was that. Never thought I would get my buck of a lifetime sitting on the ground with plenty of tree stands on our property. Guess it doesn’t hurt to change things up when necessary to achieve success.
