I’ve been out hunting quite a bit and have passed on some younger birds. I decided to head out in the light rain and called in three long beards. They were all about the same size but the bird hanging back had a thicker beard. When he cleared from the other two I shot him at 26 yards. He was a biggie, thick 11” beard, almost 1 1/2” spurs and weighed 26.8 lbs.
