My husband and I went out to watch an area we had seen doe activity. It was on the opposite of a river. Hours into a very cold and windy hunt , some does did show up. I struggled to see most of the day because the sun was so bright on my face. I heard some noise to the right of me and was confused for a moment and thought I saw one of the does on my side of the river. When I looked in my scope I could see it was a buck. He then smelled the does and was about to cross the river. I was able to get a great shot in about 25 yards away. He tried to jump to the opposite side of the river but was to weak and died quickly while floating down the river. My husband finally went in the icy river after about 600 yards of the buck floating away. He then pulled him out and we counted 11 points. It was nearly dark and we still had a good mile drag through a pine forest which got dark quickly. I am blessed for the experience and gift from mother nature. To see a buck of this size on state land in amazing. I put in alot of time this season and was rewarded greatly.
