This is crazy. We had this deer on camera once on 10/29 and then on the night before the opener. Dad saw him before shooting light on the opener and then I saw only his antlers in the afternoon on the 16th. I hunted last night and saw a doe getting chased by a small buck. I didn’t hunt this morning because the wind was bad for my stand, but we saw this big buck on a camera at 6am.. I couldn’t take it and went and sat a little after noon. He made a mistake for a couple seconds and followed a doe in a little after 5pm. I am hunting pretty deep in the swamp and didn’t have much time for a shot, but I made it count. So fortunate for this opportunity at such an amazing animal and made it even better that I got to use Grandpa’s old 30-30. Buck of a lifetime.
