After seeing 2 shooter bucks north of my stand during the morning hunt my dad and uncle moved the stand. During the evening hunt I saw one shooter 8pt along with 2 spikes exit the bedding area. I decided to pass on the 8pt. About an hour later my 10pt walked out just passed my 150 yard marker. I attempted to fire my rifle but it clicked. My dad took the rifle and cleared the malfunction. I brought it back up on my target and it went “click” again. My dad took the rifle again, dropped the mag, ejected the round then hand loaded one round in the chamber. He handed it back to me and said, “make it count.” The deer started to walk away while I brought it back up on target. My dad whistles at it and he paused long enough to take a well supported 165 yard shot. We could hear the bullet impact the animal, he donkey kicked and ran approximately 40 yards. He was hit in the heart.
