Hunter hunting along a marsh

Information

  • Date Taken: 03/30/2013
  • County: Oakland County
  • Dressed Weight: Ok it was bad enough my 12 year old shut me out 3-0 during deer season, now my 7 year old pulls this off. There has been a mythical 14 pt buck that was captured on several different trail cams in my area of Washington Twp. Never spotted or photographed during daylight hours, only at night. We all had a good idea where he was bedding but it is, of course, inside a swamp.Garrett (my 12 yr old son) and I went through this swamp last Wednesday after work and didn’t see anything. This last Saturday (Mar 30th) afternoon I took my youngest son Weston in there. As we walk along the edge of the hardwood/swamp border he runs into the swamp grass and pulls out this ridiculous, stupid huge antler. I ran up to him high fiving and hugging him and told him to look around for more. As I stood there Stupefied staring at this horn, 15 feet away from me he yells and pulls the other matching antler out of the grass. At this point I can’t speak, realizing that this doesn’t happen but once every several dozen lifetimes. He is too young to grasp exactly what he has found. Turns out, it’s actually 13pts.Steve Emenheiser Washington twp.
