Was out for a midday “track and stalk”, and was working a set of good tracks. All signs pointed to a nice deer working a heavy used deer run. Knowing the lay of the land, I set up on a knoll about 100yds up from a deep swamp swail along that runway. 6 times on the bleat can, and 2 minutes later he come running out of that swamp nose to the ground on the deer trail. Ya see horns like this, you instantly shoot! Perfect shot placement just before noticing a bigger monster charging behind him. (Tagged out after the first shot), so what was I to do but watch an absolute giant slip back into the swamp. So proud of this dandy 8, and was an awesome hunt. Left the truck at 12:30ish…tracked, set up, shot, trailed, gutted, dragged and loaded in truck and back home before dark.
