Flipped a coin to pick the shack I was going to sit in. I walked back to the stand with a buddy and we bumped 2 doe right away. Shortly after 2 more doe cruises through. Then it was relatively still for an hour or so. I seen 5 deer in the thick stuff 50 yards away, then they all started walking out onto the two track 70 yards away. I picked the biggest doe in the bunch, and she dropped right where she was standing. I texted my wife that I had a doe down, and about 9 minutes later I sent her another text. I said I have 5 more deer funneling out to my right. Her quick response was “I hope one is a big buck” I kinda laughed it off thinking no chance, because I just shot that doe minutes ago. But as the 4 doe found their way to the two track, I see a decent set of antlers in the woods filling them. I let all the does funnel out and he stuck to the plan and walked right behind them. I shot once and he acted like he wasn’t hit, he took a few steps and I put another bullet into him and he dropped just off the two track. I texted my back and said “yes their was a big buck and I got him.” I’m really fortunate to have an awesome place to hunt and that I didn’t have a second doe tag that night. We did an unofficial score of 138 3/8. He may be a 14 point, not completely sure he does have two little kickers at the base that are an inch or so long. My biggest buck so far…

I took this Montcalm county buck on 11/19/2018 @ 5pm. It spans 21 1/2″ wide, approximately the same height, 9 points with double brow tines. Very unique, and definitely a conversation piece. Definitely a buck of a lifetime. Pictured with my son.

It was cold, cold enough to see my breath..I decided the night before I would move my climber..crunch all the way back to the woods through the frosted grounds..got to my old location pulled my climber and found a tree 100 yards from there where I had bean seeing lots of activity..of course the tree had to have a branch ever 2 ft to cut off..so here I am climbing this tree cutting branches down with my pocket knife…crunch …here comes a doe with a buck hot on her tail…my bow still hooked on the rope on the ground…he was a fair 8 …they ran through so I went on…so 39 minutes later after seeing several 100 inch deer run by i got settled in finally..not spooking one deer! I had my bow hanging and and arrow rested..I hit my bleat call 5 minutes later here comes a big 10 walking right towards me probably a 150 inch deer….but out of now where this 8 point was like, heck no this is my area..standing his ground and being the younger and smaller deer I thought for sure the 10 would run him off…I’ve never seen deer fight before…small deer but not 2 mature deer…anyhow they go hard for about 10 minutes..and shockingly the 8 point ran the 10 off! Unbelievable he was obviously the dominant deer…I hit my bleat call again and here he comes strait at me I drew back he was angled hard towards me and I shot him a little far back…but thanks to Curt simon with one hell of a dog named blazer we where able to recover that deer within 5 minutes , hes may be pushing 130 inches but I’ll take him, now for the big 10 to come out
