After checking the weather I decided to go jump in the stand. Had been getting pictures of deer after dark so I wasn’t expecting much, was extremely quiet afternoon and I had been sitting for about 2.5 before I started hearing movement. Off in the thicket I heard what sounded like some chasing, couldn’t be sure because everyone knows how a 2 pound squirrel sounds like a deer in the woods. Then I hear 2 short grunts followed by complete silence. I grabbed my grunt and let out two estrus bleats followed by a few short tending grunts and still nothing. About 10 minutes later I look over to my right and see this buck tending a scrape. It happened so fast as we all know, he put his nose on the ground and started looking for love. I quickly ranged him at 30 yards, I pulled back and got my anchor point and stopped him. I let the arrow fly and watched it hit its mark. One quick mule kick and he started walking as if nothing happened. I watched him walk just about 50 yards and bed down and that was it! This is my first archery buck and biggest buck to date. Passed on countless smaller bucks and some nice up and comers put in over 100 hours stand time but it was so worth it!

Almost didn’t see him as I was changing propane tanks in the ground blind. When I looked up he had already chased a doe halfway across the bean field I was on the edge of. Gathered myself in time to get off a good shot and couldn’t be happier.

It was my first hunt of bow season. I hopped in my ghost blind after work. Twenty minutes went by and I saw the top part of his rack through the corn . I didn’t move for 10 minutes and then the deer disapeared. He came out 40 yards away and once he gave me a shot… shwack I stuck him through the heart with a shwacker.

Deer came out of the woods around 4:30 and then I waited for him to present a broadside shot and that’s when I hit him and he ran 30 yards and dropped

Arrived at my stand late that morning 7:15 ! I stoped him at 60 yards at 7:30 ! Took the shot ! Wasn’t sure if I hit him !! Walked to where he was standing found hair ! No blood ! Followed his tracks a good 50 yards no blood ! My buddy was hunting the property next door and he shot a buck just before I shot ! He said he found his deer ! I asked him to come help me find blood ! I little colored blind so it has to be allot of blood for me to see it ! He found blood and said we don’t know where you hit him so let’s pull out for a few hours ! We went back after four hours of me wondering if I made a good shot !! He brought his son with us and they were on blood rite away ! He went over 150 yards ! We had to drag him through 100 yards of dead fall what a job that was ! Without Dan and his son I don’t think I would have found this buck ! Thanks guys !!
